I'm tired of rolling into the middle of the bed

I'm a bigger guy, around 280 lbs, and my current mattress has developed a pretty deep dip in the middle. Every night I end up rolling into the center and waking up with a sore back. I've tried rotating it, but it's only a few months old. Is there a type of mattress that won't sag like this? I'm tired of feeling like I'm sleeping in a trench.

What's your current mattress made of? If it's memory foam, that's probably the issue. Foam softens with heat and pressure, and at your weight it can break down fast. You might want to look into a hybrid with pocket coils for support.

I had the same problem. I weigh about 250 and went through three mattresses in two years. Finally got a latex mattress with a firm core. It's been a year and no sagging. It's heavy as hell though though, so moving it is a pain.

Rotating helps but only if you do it every couple of months from day one. Also, check your foundation. A weak box spring can cause sagging even if the mattress is fine.

I'm not as heavy but I had a similar issue. I got a mattress with reinforced edges and a firmer center. It's not perfect but it slowed down the sagging. Maybe look for something with zoned support.

Have you checked the warranty? Some mattresses have a sagging clause if it's more than an inch and a half. Might be worth a claim.

RustyGears has a point. Also, what's your budget? If you can Afford it, something like an avocado or saavta might hold up better. But they're pricey.

Don't bother with pillow tops. They just create more places to sag. A tight-top firm mattress is better for heavier folks.

I second the foundation check. I put a piece of plywood under my box spring and it made a difference. Cheap fix.

If you do get a new one, make sure the retailer has a good return policy. Some charge restocking fees. And don't be afraid to ask about firmness levels specifically for heavier sleepers.
