Would a latex mattress hold up better

I'm around 280 lbs and have killed two memory foam mattresses in three years. The sagging is unreal. I keep reading that latex is more durable, but the price tag makes me nervous. Would a latex mattress actually hold up better for a heavy sleeper, or am I just going to spend more money to watch it fail too?

Latex is definitely more durable than memory foam. It's denser, and more resilient, so it doesnt break down as fast under weight. But 'better' depends on what you get. Cheap latex blends? Not so much. Go for 100% natural Dunlop or Talalay and check the ILD. For 280 lbs, you probably want firm Dunlop.

My husband is 300+ and we've had a latex hybrid for five years. No sagging. The key was a firm support core and a topper for comfort. But yeah, it cost a kidney.

Buy once, cry once. Memory foam is like a bad relationship—feels great at first, then leaves a permanent impression.

What's your budget? You can often find good latex deals on closeout or from smaller brands. Also, check the warranty—some cover sagging for heavy sleepers, some don't

Latex is firmer and sleeps cooler, but if you like that 'hug' feeling, it's not for you. My 250 lb brother hated it because it felt too rigid. Try before you buy if you can.

We went with a Sleep on Latex medium and it's been solid for two years. They have a good return polic. Just be aware that latex mattresses are heavy as hell—moving it is a workout.

Latex will absolutely outlast memory foam, but the real question is whether it's comfortable for you. Latex pushes back, memory foam sinks in. For a heavy sleeper, that pushback can be great for support, but if you have pressure points, it might be too much.

I'm 270 and my latex mattress is going strong after 6 years. No indentations. I did add a 2-inch soft latex topper for pressure relief. Worth every penny.

What about hybrids with latex over coils? Might be a good middle ground—supportive coils and durable latex comfort layer. Anyone tried that?

GravelAndGrit

I'm leaning toward trying a latex hybrid. The budget is tight, but replacing another foam mattress in two years isn't cheap either. Appreciate the input on Dunlop vs Talalay and the topper idea. I'll check out Sleep on Latex.

Good call. Also, check if they use a dense support core—latex over pocket coils can be great, but if The coils are low gauge, they'll fail too. Ask about coil count and gauge.

One more thing: rotate your mattress regularly. Even latex can develop soft spots if you always sleep in the same position. A rotation schedule helps.

And don't forget a good mattress protector. Sweat and dust mites will degrade any mattress faster than weight alone. But yeah, latex is the way to go.
