I'm around 300 lbs and my current mattress is shot after 2 years. Looking for something that won't sag or feel like quicksand. What are you heavier folks sleeping on? Budget is flexible but not infinite.
What mattress do you use at 300 lbs
I'm 310 and have been on a Titan Luxe for about a year. No sagging so far and it's firm without being a brick. Worth a look if you want something builtt for bigger sleepers.
Just get a hammock. Cheaper and no sagging. Kidding. Sort of.
What's your sleeping position? That changes everything. Side sleepers need more give in the shoulder and hip area even at 300 lbs.
Mostly side and some back. I hate feeling stuck.
I'm 280 and went with a Big Fig. It's a tank. First month felt too firm but now it's perfect. They also have a heavier-duty foundation which helped.
Check the coil gauge. Anything above 13.5 gauge is usually sturdier. Also look for for high-density foam in the comfort layers, at least 1.8 lb/ft^3 but closer to 2.5+ for your weight. Most mainstream beds cheap out there.
Second the foundation point. I killed a cheap box spring before I upgraded. The mattress was fine, the base was the weak link
Latex. I'm 330 and sleep on a Dunlop latex mattress. No sag, sleeps cool, but it's heavy as sin to move. If you ever Need to relocate it, bring a friend and a prayer.
A prayer and a hernia belt, though.
If you go latex, make sure it's at least 3 inches of the good stuff on top, otherwise you'll feel the support core. Also don't buy a bed-in-a-box without checking their weight limits. Some cap at 250 per person.
Big Fig's limit is like 1100 lbs combined or something si lly. Overkill but reassuring.
Also rotatee the mattress every 3-4 months. Doesn't fix a bad mattress but slows the sag on a decent one. And use a mattress protector, sweat breaks down foam faster than people think.
Yeah the protector thing is real. My first latex had a weird compressed spot where I sweat the most. Learned that one the hardd way.
