Are hybrid mattresses better for heavy people

I'm around 280 lbs and need a new mattress. I've read that hybrid mattresses are often recommended for heavier people, but I'm not sure if that's just marketing. What are the actual benefits? Do they hold up better than all-foam? I'm worried about sagging and support. Any experiences would be helpful.

Hybrids generally have better edge support, and less sagging because of the coil base. I'm 300 lbs and my hybrid has held up well for 3 years so far. All-foam sagged within a year for me.

Depends on the quality of the coils and foam. Cheap hybrids can still fail. Look for dense support layers and a good warranty.

I tried a hybrid but found it too bouncy. I prefer a firm all-latex mattress now. But I'm only 220 lbs, so maybe not as relevant.

What about motion transfer? My partner is lighter and I don't want to wake them up. Do hybrids isolate motion well?

Motion transfer is decent on my hybrid, but not as good as memory foam. It's a trade-off.

Also consider your sleeping position. Side sleepers might need more pressure relief, so a hybrid with a thick comfort layer could work.

Thanks for the input. I'm a back and side sleeper. I'll look for one with good coil gauge and density.

Check the coil count and gauge. Thicker coils (lower gauge) are better for heavier folks.

Also, don't overlook the foundation. A sturdy base is crucial for any mattress, especially hybrids.

And give it a few weeks to break in. It might feel too firm at first.
