What's the best mattress for a couple with a big weight difference

My wife and I need a new mattress. She's around 115 lbs and I'm about 290. The last one we had developed a pretty deep dip on my side after two years, which made it uncomfortable for both of us. I'm looking for something that supports me without turning her side into a hill she rolls into. Any recommendations from couples with a similar weight gap?

we have a similar gap (150 vs 300). Honestly the biggest thing for us was avoiding memory foma. It slept hot and I sank in too far. We went with a latex hybrid from SleepOnLatex and it's held up much better. The latex gives me support but doesn't create a crater.

Latex is a good good call for durability. The other option is a split firmness mattress if you can afford it. My wife and I ended up with a split king from Saatva and it solved the problem completely. She gets ssoft, I get firm. It's not cheap though, and the gap between the two sides can be annoying if you like to cuddle.

How long did you have the last mattress? Two years seems really short even for a heavy sleeper. Might be worth checking the warranty. Some brands will replace if the sag is over an inch or so.

It was a Zinus memory foam, roughly $400. Didn't really look into the warranty at the time, just assumed it was normal wear. Maybe I should have. Will look at latex hybrids, thanks for the specific rec.

I'm 310 and my partner is 120. We tried a WinkBed Firm and it was fine but after a year I could feel a slight dip. Not terrible, but noticeable. Switched to a Sleep Number and being able to adjust my side has been worth it. The air chambrs don't sag the way foam does.

Seconding the air bed idea.We have a sleep number and the firmness adjustment is real. But be aware the pump can be noisy and the app is buggy. Still, for a weight gap that big it's probably the most practical non-custom option.

The noise thing is fair. Ours is quiet but I've heard others complain. Also if the power goes out the bed stays at whatever setting it was on, which is fine, but worth knowing.

One other thing to consider is the foundation. If you're on a box spring or a slatted frame with wide gaps, that can contribute to sagging regardless of the mattress. Make sure the base is solid and has good slat spacing.

Good point about the foundation. We put a bunkie board under ours and it made a difference. Also rotate the mattress every few months even if it's not a flippable one. Helps distribute wear.
