So I'm about 300 lbs and my current mattress is a lumpy disaster after 3 years. I need something that won't sag or feel like quicksand. Budget is maybe $1500 but I'd stretch for quality. What would you actually buy?
What mattress would you buy if you weighed 300 lbs
At 300 lbs you need to stop Looking at pillow tops. They're just a countdown clock to sag city. Go hybrid with coils and a dense base foam. I'm 280 and my WinkBed has held up great for 2 years.
My brother is around your size and he swears by his Stearns & Foster. Heavy sucker, but it hasn't dipped at all. I think he paid close to 2k though.
Bro just get a Big Fig. It's literally built for this. End of thread.
Big Fig is decent but super firm. If you sleep on your side it might wreck your shoulder. OP didn't say their sleeping position.
Mostly side sleeper. Occasionally back. Does that change things?
Side sleeper at 300? You need pressure relief but also support. Look into a medium-firm hybrid with zoned coils. I'd check out the Titan Luxe or the Leesa Hybrid. The Titan is firm but has a little give.
My brother is a side sleeper too and he loves that S&F. Just sayin'.
I Still say Big Fig. They have a medium option now I think? Or just throw a topper on it. That's what I did.
Don't sleep on the Titan. I'm 320 and it's been solid for 4 years. No sag. It's a tank. Not luxurious but who cares.
Latex. You'll thank me later. Heavy people and foam don't mix long term. Get a Dunlop latex mattress and it'll outlast you.
Latex is great but can be pricey and sleeps hot. OP, do you run hot? That's a factor.
Yeah I sleep pretty hot. Memory foam is out.
Then definitely avoid anything with a thick memory foam comfort layer.Go with coils + latex or a gel foam that's more breathable. WinkBed has a cooling cover but it's not magic.
Titan has a cooling gel foam layer.I don't wake up sweaty. But I also sleep with a fan on high so YMMV.
Just go try some in a store. Everyone's different. My brother's S&F felt like a brick to me but he loves it.
