What bed frame works best for heavier sleepers

So I'm around 280 lbs and my current cheap metal frame is starting to wobble and squeak like a haunted house. I need something that won't collapse under me. What bed frames do you all recommend for heavier sleepers? I'm looking for something sturdy but not insanely expensive. Platform? Adjustable? Wood? Metal? Help a guy out.

Steel platform frames with reinforced legs are the way to go. I'm 300+ and mine has been rock solid for 3 years. Look for ones rated 1000 lbs or more, not the flimsy 500 lb ones.

Anything but particle board. I learned that the hard way. RIP my old IKEA frame, it snapped in the middle of the night like a twig. 😂

I've had good luck with a heavy-duty wooden platform bed from a local Amish furniture place. Solid oak, no squeaks, and it's rated for like 800 lbs. Cost a bit more but worth it.

What's your budget? That makes a huge difference. Under $200 you're limited, but if you can swing $400-500 you get into much better quality.

Also check the slats. Even a strong frame can fail if the slats are thin. I upgraded to thicker slats, and added a center support leg. Huge difference.

Center support is non-negotiable for heavy sleepers. My old frame had no center leg and it sagged in the middle after a year.

Adjustable bases are surprisingly sturd these days. Mine is rated 850 lbs and it's been great. Plus you can raise the head for reading. Not cheap though.

i second the steel frame suggestion. Just make sure you assemble it correctly. I skipped a few bolts the first time and it was wobbly as hell. My bad.

If you go wood, check the joinery. Screws into end grain will pull out. Look for mortise and tenon or at least metal brackets.

One more thing: avoid frames with thin legs. You want thick, wide legs that distribute weight. Skinny metal legs can bend over time.

Thanks everyone. Budget is around $350. I'll look into steel platform frames with center support. Appreciate the tips!

Forgot to mention: check the weight capacity of the mattress too. A heavy frame is useless if the mattress sags. But that's a whole other thread.
