I've got a heavy innerspring mattress on a metal frame and it keeps sliding when I get in and out. Tried moving it back but it just shifts again. Any fixes that don't involve buying a new bed? I weigh about 260 and the mattress is probably 100 lbs.
How do you stop a mattress from sliding on the bed frame
I had this problem with a memory foam on a platform frame. A rubber rug pad cut to the frame size fixe it for me. The thin woven kind, not the sticky shelf liner stuff.
Is your frame a standard metal box spring type? If the mattress sits directly on slats, you can try the non-slip pads they sell for area rugs. Cheap and worked on mine.
It's a metal frame with slats, no box spring. I'll look into the rug pad idea. Do those hold up with a heavier person getting in and out daily?
If the frame has a lip or side rails, a simple fix is to put a couple of rolled-up towels or pool noodles under the mattress edges to create a barrier. Not pretty, but it stops the slide. My brother did this for his heavy mattress.
Check if the slats are spaced too far apart. If they are, the mattress can sag and shift. You might need to add a piece of plywood over the slats to give a solid surface
Mine has held up about two years, but i'm not as heavy. The key is getting a pad with some texture, not just smooth rubber. Also, make sure the frame is clean and dry before you put it down.
I used double-sided carpet tape between the mattress and frame. It's strong but can leave residue. Worked for a year until I replaced the mattress.
The plywood idea makes sense. The slats are about 4 inches apart, so maybe that's part of it. I'll try that first since I have some scrap plywood.
Let us know how it goes. If the plywood doesn't do it, the rug pad plus a lip on the frame is probably the next step.
