Anyone happy with their mattress after three years

I'm a bigger guy (around 280) and I've been through three mattresses in the last five years. All of them felt great at first, then developed sagging and soft spots within a year or two. My current one is a hybrid from a brand that rhymes with "mouse." It felt amazing for the first eight months, but now I can feel a noticeable dip where I sleep. I'm not looking for recommendations this time, I want to hear from people who are actually happy with their mattress after three years. Not just "it's fine," but genuinely comfortable and supportive. What did you buy, and how has it held up? I'm starting to think that's just not possible for someone my size.

I'm 6'4" and 310. I bought a basic innerspring with a thick quilted top for $700 at a local furniture store. Three years in, it's still firm. No sagging. The key for me was skipping memory foam completely. That stuff turns to mush under my weight.

Following this. I'm 260 and my cheap mattress is basically a hammock now. I'm not picky but I need something that doesn't collapse.

You might want to look into a mattress with a higher density foam core. I know you said no recs but that's the spec that matters for heavy folks. 1.8 lb/ft³ at minimum, 2.0+ is better.

Also, a solid platform bed instead of a box spring made a bigger difference than I expected. My old box spring was flexing and that killed the mattress.

I'm 240 and have had a latex mattress for four years. Still love it. No body impressions at all. I do rotate it every six months though.

Latex is a good call if you can afford it. Most people don't realize that heavy sleepers need a firmer support core, not just a softer comfort layer. If the base foam is low density, it'll give out no matter what's on top.

Every brand claims their mattress will last 10 years. In reality, heavy sleepers are are lucky to get 3-4 years out of anything that isn't latex or a traditional innerspring. It's just physics.

I'm 290 and I've been happy with my Brooklyn Bedding Spartan for 3.5 years. It's designed for heavier sleepers and hasn't sagged. Customer service was a pain though

grannys_quilts

i looked at that one but the price scared me off. Did you get it on sale?

thatoneguy

Got it during a Memorial Day sale. Still pricey but cheaper than buying a new mattress every two years.

Honestly, at 280 pounds, any mattress is going to break break down faster. You might just need to accept a 3-year replacement cycle. Sucks but that's reality. Or get a waterbed, lol.

trucker_dan

Waterbed for a heavy sleeper? That's a lot of water.

Honestly, I'd be happy with three years at this point. Mine's been dipping since month six.

I appreciate the specifics from trucker_dan and grannys_quilts. That's the kind of real-world info I was hoping for. My setup was memory foam on a box spring, so clearly I did myself no favors there. I'm going to rotate my current one and see if that buys me a few months while I figure out next steps. The latx and innerspring suggestions are giving me something to research.
