My partner and I are both around 250-260 lbs and currently on a queen. We're waking up sore and rolling into each other constantly. Would a king actually make a difference for two heavier people, or is it just more room to flop around? Not interested in losing the bed frame we just bought, so I'm hoping a king is the answer.
Is a king mattress better for two heavier sleepers
King is the only reason my wife and I still share a bed. We're not small people and a queen felt like a wrestling match. The extra width means you don't feel every toss
A king is better for space, sure, but don't expect it to fix support if your mattress mattress is already sagging. What's your current bed? If it's a cheap memory foam, a bigger one might just mean a bigger hole.
We went from queen to king last year. I'm 240, she's 220. It's a night and day difference for not waking each other up. But we also upgraded the mattress quality, so hard to say which did more. Probably both.
My brother and his wife are both heavier and they swear by a split king with adjustable bases. Separate surfaces, no motion transfer. Might be overkill but worth a look if you have the budget.
Just make sure your frame can handle a king. We had to deinforce ours because the slats started bowing. And check your room dimensions—a king eats up a lot of space.
Oh yeah, frame thing is real. We ended up with a platform bed with extra center support. The mattress itself is fine but the old frame was not happy.
King is bigger but if you're both heavy,a firm mattress with good edge support matters more. We tried a king in a hotel once and it was so soft we still rolled into the middle. Size won't save you from a bad mattress.
Also consider that two heavy sleepers on one mattress will break it down faster regardless of size. Rotate it regularly and maybe look for something with a higher density foam or pocket coils. Don't just size up and expect longevity.
